Laura Heine Collage Quilts

Easy Collage Quilt (pattern by Laura Heine)

In this class you will make a fun and easy collage quilt for your wall. You can pick your choice of the Bear, the Flamingo, or the cute little Camper. You can personalize the wall quilt to fit your personality. If you don’t want a pink flamingo, choose to make him or her purple, blue, or rainbow. Have fun. I chose to personalize the camper by putting mountains in the background and Brady, my golden retriever, playing in the field. You will learn how to fuse with Steam A Seam II, using underlays for the collage, and working the background. At the end of the class we will discuss choices for quilting your wall hanging.

For the class, participants MUST choose one of the designs from the pattern listed.  The techniques learned can then be applied to patterns of your choice.

Requirements: Laura Heine Collage Supply List Fabric: A good selection of fabrics that will go with your choice of pattern. Choose large, medium, and small-scale fabrics. Look for motifs that have a defined outside edge. These fabrics will be your cut-tables. Some patterns will need underlay fabric, such as, the flamingo needs a few pinkish fabrics that you can layer other fabrics on top of. The underlays can have some print to them, but they shouldn't be overpowering. Underlay fabrics will need to be larger than your cuttable fabrics. Background and cut-table fabrics can be anywhere from 4x6 to 8x10. Possibly even larger, but no smaller than 5x5.
